Trauma

I use an integrated trauma approach to treat trauma related disorders. Trauma treatment includes elements of psychoeducation, resourcing (building coping skills), and supporting you to share their story, defuse from shame and guilt, reprocess the trauma using the resources we’ve built in a safe environment. Trauma treatment can also include the construction of a personal narrative that includes both positive and painful experiences.

Since we know that trauma is often stored in our primitive memory and in the body, I encourage clients to engage in gentle mindful movement exercises in session and between appointments to help release the trauma, build new body memories, and connect body to breath and contribute to overall awareness and sense of calm.

I use cognitive processing and narrative therapy which views you as the expert of your story, and through exploration and integration of yourself and your memories, I can support you to create a new narrative that works better for you and honors your resiliency as a trauma survivor.

Often it is helpful for trauma survivors to find or create meaning from the traumas and painful experiences. It is an honor to walk alongside trauma survivors on the journey to recovery, new understandings, new narratives, self empowerment and growth.
