Caroline Rose In Portland, OR And Washington State

I am a licensed clinical social worker in OR and WA. I have been practicing professionally for 13 years, and have been working in the field of mental health and developmental disabilities for over 20 years. I started out working in a small school for children with autism. I earned a Master of Social Work degree from Portland State University in 2010. During graduate school, I completed internships working with juvenile sex offenders and an internship with the State of Oregon working with children who were medically fragile or had high behavioral needs. After graduate school, I worked as a residential administrator, therapist, and supervisor for individuals who had been found “guilty except for insanity” and were on conditional release from the Psychiatric Security Review Board. From there I went on to work as a therapist in healthcare settings, including in outpatient and intensive outpatient programs, and most as a therapist for adolescents and their families who had been referred by their school counselor due to emotional or behavioral concerns.  Last year I made my long-anticipated move into private practice. I am grateful to be able to offer high-quality care that is specifically tailored to meet individual needs.

A little bit about me personally; I bring lived experience as someone who struggled with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) for over a decade, from ages 8-18. I was resistant to therapy as a teen, and the times I did try treatment, it never seemed to directly address the OCD. Eventually, I figured out how to treat myself with what I now know to be Exposure and Response Prevention. I was able to successfully treat the OCD in a fairly short time after I figured out how to do it.  I also bring lived experience as a parent of a child who has a sensory integration disorder and a feeding disorder, so I’m also able to bring experience from the parent’s perspectives in my work as well.
